Themed Cake Smashes in West Sussex

With your little ones first birthday not too far away, it’s important to you to make this special first one, one that will be remembered. A Cake Smash is the ideal way to mark this massive milestone and have loads of fun with your little one at the same time.

To theme or not to theme? That is the question

Once you’ve decided upon booking in your cake smash, the next question is what set up or style you would like. I offer both a themed cake smash in West Sussex and a standard cake smash, and I am often asked the difference. I thought a blog would be the perfect way to explain!

Standard Cake Smash

If you choose a standard cake smash, that is not to say there is no decoration involved. You have a choice of plain colour backgrounds to choose from:

  • Cream
  • White
  • Grey
  • Light blue
  • Dark blue

These set ups can either be completely plain with focus all about baby and the cake, or decorations can be included with options as follows (as little or as many as you’d like):

  • Balloons
  • Garlands (flag / rag / O-N-E / flower / balloon)
  • Flowers
  • Pom Noms
  • TeePee
Themed Cake Smash

Themed cake smashes are a fun way to incorporate your child or your favourite film, book or toys. As standard I offer the following popular themes:

  • Lion King
  • Winnie the Pooh
  • Jungle
  • Toy Story
  • Monsters Inc
  • Unicorn
  • Superhero

If you have your own theme that is not listed, this can also be arranged for an additional small fee to cover the cost of the props that will be required.

The finishing touch to a themed cake smash is a bespoke cake to tie in the theme perfectly. I am happy to arrange this from a professional baker and have one that I work closely with.

I am booking cake smashes now for 2020 and space is filling up fast, so if you would like to discuss yours please get in touch.

Fellow photographer Carli Adams is a Harpenden baby photographer who agrees how important it is to mark your baby’s first birthday. She’s got a lovely new studio to conduct them in too and has written a blog all about it. So exciting!
