Hadley’s Sitter Milestone Portrait Session
Remembering the milestones – that first smile, first laugh, sitting up unaided, crawling. The list goes on, and soon the dates role into one and it’s hard to remember which order they came in and when they happened. The only way you’re going to remember every detail is to record it. I love the flash cards available these days – when the “first” occurs, simply grab the relevant card that applies, write on the date and snap a photo. In 20 years or so time when your once little one has all grown up and maybe even flown the nest, you’ll look back on those memories time and time again – priceless memories.
Now you can snap a ton of photos on your phone, but some firsts deserve something special. And this is where a milestone portrait session comes in. It’s a tough skill to learn, taking months of practice, and once they’ve cracked it it’s like a new little personality appears with it. After all, life seems better once you can see the world from a sitting position. And once you can sit, lying down is for losers isn’t it! Ever find that once your little one could sit, they were just never quite as happy unless they were sitting up?
This is one of my all time favourite ages. Happy to sit in one spot and full to the brim of smiles and personality.

Hadley was 8 months when I met him for his sitter milestone portrait session in East Grinstead, West Sussex. He had been sitting for some time and was a very confident little boy. His amazing character shone from the minute I greeted him and throughout his session. He totally melted my heart as we played and sung nursery rhymes.

This face! Does it get any cuter than this?!
Sitter Milestone Sessions are held once your little one can sit up unaided, but usually before they can crawl. This just makes for an easier session as they are happier sitting still to pose for the camera. This is usually somewhere between 6-9 months, and I always recommend parents to schedule their session for about a month after they have mastered this tricky new skill so that there not still wobbly.
