Amare’s Newborn Portrait Session

After I met Amare’s mummy for her maternity photography session, I was thrilled that we’d be meeting again when her precious bundle had arrived for his new baby photos. Mum had chosen blue and beige for her colour scheme. Something we always plan in advance. This allows me to tie in colours in the client’s house where parents plan to hang their images. Mum also wore blue in her Maternity Portraits so everything tied in perfectly.

In – home Photography Session

So at just 11 days old I visited him and his parents to capture his memories. their session was held at their home in Surrey. Although I’m an East Grinstead photographer, I cover all of Sussex, Surrey and Kent for photography sessions in the comfort of clients own homes. In-home newborn photography sessions are particularly popular as it takes all the stress out from new parents having to get to a studio.

11 days old just happens to be my favourite age to photograph a newborn. By this time they have established feeding a little. This means they can feed better and sleep longer. Usually the cord has fallen off by this time too.

Incorporating his parents hands to showcase how tiny little Amare was, he feels safe and sound in mum and dads arms. Parents can be reluctant to get in the photos, and I don’t blame them. They’ve had sleepless nights for a few days now and it’s a big shock to the system (don’t worry, the body clock is amazing and it does get easier while this broken night phase lasts). Worried about eye bags or post pregnancy belly – give yourself a break mums, you’ve just given birth! They’ve really no need to fret at all. All these points I can deal with and years from now their baby will love seeing them in the images with him or her.

I love the connection in this family portrait! Amare will adore this when he’s older.

New baby boy and his parents at their newborn photography session in Surrey

This beautiful boy slept like a dream and posed like a pro during his newborn photoshoot. We got through a ton of poses despite a few accidents in a particular outfit that apparently he thought very little of lol. Feed and take a newborn’s nappy and what do you expect after all! Usually it’s over me so it’s a bonus for me when it’s else where lol.

Props are also picked out by parents in advance which allows me to plan not only which I bring, but all textures and colours throughout. All these little details that makes the session run smoothly and make for a perfectly gallery full of images.

With Dad being spots fan I was asked to incorporate this into one of the images – I have to say he rather liked the little American Football. CUTE!
