Kailan’s Session – Newborn Baby Photography in East Grinstead
Kailan’s came to me at my home studio for newborn baby photography in East Grinstead. He was a little older than most newborns that come for a session, due to being a little poorly when he was born. Technically speaking the ideal age for a newborn photography session is between 5 – 21 days old. This is the age that they are still sleepy and they like to curl up still as they did when inside the womb. His mum contacted me when he was 4 weeks old, but due to being full booked, he was going to be 9 weeks old before I had managed to squeeze him in.

There are going to be many of mums out there, that thanks to Coronavirus, have not been able to have a newborn photography session at the optimal age. And like you, Kailan’s mum was worried she may have missed the opportunity. I assured her that regardless of if Kailan slept on the day of his photoshoot, I would still capture some stunning images of which she would treasure. Adorable expressions. Glimpses of a cheeky personality. As you will see we managed to get that and more!
Family Time
Starting his session wide awake we proceeded with family photographs.

I think you will agree that being awake did not stop us from creating beautiful memories. When Kailan is older, he will adore looking back at the images with him and his parents and how they all looked when he was a newborn.
Sleepy Time
After a feed and a cuddle Kailan did fall asleep and so I quickly grabbed the opportunity for those sleepy poses. He was just perfect and even though he was an older newborn, he still loved being curled up as I posed him for his photographs.

After a while he woke up, but he remained super chilled out. This allowed my to get this image of his eyes open and his head on his hands which I just adore. He’s looking right at his mummy with the best expression of pure love that she and I could ever have hoped for.

Personality
Newborns struggle to focus when first born and tend to go cross eyed quite a lot. Being older meant that Kailan was able to focus well when we were getting his attention, often looking right at his parents and the camera. And it brought out that amazing personality – I think he’s going o be a little cheeky when he’s older. He has a little twinkle in his eye!

If you are disappointed that you may have missed the opportunity for a newborn session due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, or if time has just passed you by, please get in touch. I’d love to discuss what we may be able to still achieve for you and your baby and to get you the memories that you want.
