A Spider-Man Cake Smash

When you have a little boy always looking over your shoulder, you have to be careful what you’re working on. Like editing cake smashes……..this isn’t welcomed by a two year old I can tell you. My little boy gets so jealous each time he sees me working on my cake smash images. Apparently the baby is “eating HIS cake” and “it’s not fair” lol.

 

So as my little boy approached three, I promised him he could have his own. He is obsessed with Spider-Man, so  I knew instantly that he’d love that as a theme. So off I set to get creative. Sourcing the cake, outfit accessories and backdrop to tie in for a Spider-Man cake smash, I don’t know who was more excited, me or him.

 

 

 

 

As soon as he saw the cake he told me how “AMAZING” it was. There were lots of ahhhhhhh’s and ohhhhhhh’s from him I can tell you.

When I put the cake in front of him, he started off gently running his finger through the icing. Stopping ever now and then worried about it getting on his clothes and to check it was ok.

 

Like many of the little ones I work with he needed a little encouragement to show him it was ok to tuck in and get messy. So I got my wooden spoon out and dug into the back of the cake a little for him. Soon he had whole chunks of cake and began devouring it!

Any when you’ve decided that it’s just taking too long to eat with your hands and a spoon, what do you do? bypass them of course! Mouth first!

 

 

 

 

It was a lot of fun doing this theme and my little Zach adored it. Even better, he left half the cake so we got to have some too. And it was delicious!

 

As always with my cake Smash photography sessions, I like to do a few more classic portraits first, so I got the rest of my boys involved too. I love these family ones and that cheeky little face of his when he’s on the car…..which is apparently HIS car too lol.
